Sisu Cafe is the newest restaurant from veteran restaurateur Frank Sanchez and partner Ruben Piirainen, inspired by the flavors and aesthetics of Finnish culture. Sanchez's other credits include Sabrosa Cafe & Gallery and Taqueria Azteca.
We serve breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday, featuring grab & go items for commuters and a leisurely coffeehouse atmosphere for others. There is a focus on fresh bakery - including some Finnish favorites - and menu items made from locally-sourced ingredients.
Sisu (pronounced SEE-soo) is an important word to Finns and American Finns, meaning tenacity, perseverance, chutzpah, dedication, resolve; commonly translated simply as guts.
The symbol ⌘ dates back to pre-historic Finland and is called hannunvaakuna. It is a symbol that is said to bring good luck.
